Meet Our Team: Dr. Brugada
At vitalera, we believe that groundbreaking technology must be paired with clinical excellence. That’s why we are honored to have Dr. Josep Brugada, MD, PhD—renowned cardiologist, Professor at the University of Barcelona, and former President of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA)—as part of our advisory board.
Dr. Brugada has spent his life treating patients with serious arrhythmias and preventing sudden cardiac death, especially in pediatric populations. His leadership helps us ensure that our remote patient monitoring (RPM) platform is both clinically sound and future-ready.
🎙️ Q&A With Dr. Brugada
Why did you choose to collaborate with Vitalera?
“Because they are a very young, active, and innovative team whose main interest is to improve patient care and facilitate follow-up of patients with severe conditions.”

What do you love about your work in cardiology?
“I love my job because it helps people to improve their quality of life. It helps patients—sometimes very young, even pediatric patients—live a normal life, free from abnormal heartbeats or tachycardias. In some cases, it also prevents extremely severe conditions that might lead to sudden cardiac death.”

What are your hobbies outside of medicine?
“My main hobby is fly fishing. I enjoy being alone in the river for hours, casting and listening to the sound of the water. I also love gardening—growing tomatoes, salads, onions, and more.”
What are you most passionate about in life?
“My family, especially my grandchildren. I love spending weekends with them. And my second passion is Football Club Barcelona—I never miss a match!”
